Comparing stormtime magnetic measurements to global models

Objective

To understand the configuration and evolution of the inner magnetospheric magnetic field during magnetic storms.

Exercise outline

Given a storm period, get the available data from the solar wind (magnetic field, pressure), and from the inner magnetosphere. Use given global models to compute the inner magnetospheric configuration during the storm period. Compare the model outputs to measurements. Compare the outputs from different models.

  • Possibly inner magnetospheric measurements?
