Modelling magnetic clouds

Objective

To understand the connection between solar observations and magnetic clouds and the structure of magnetic clouds within the force-free magnetic field approximation.

Exercise outline

Given a magnetic cloud event, model it by fitting a flux rope solution to the spacecraft data. Charactirise the solar events leading to the magnetic cloud event and make comparisons of the relevant quantities, like the orientation of the cloud axis and the orientation of the related filament channel.
