November 24: Quatation from EPRI Transmission Systems Highlights: "In November, the EPRI-sponsored SUNBURST system recorded a significant solar storm event, which resulted in at least one reported electric utility outage and reached severe levels at a number of sites in North America. The geomagnetically-induced current (GIC) event, produced by powerful solar storm activity, occurred November 24, 2001.
