“Monitoring Atmospheric Anomalies from Space: A Topological Approach (MAASTA)” –project has been granted ESA Living Planet Fellowship –funding for two years.
The project will focus on data-driven methods to detect carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas anomalies from satellite observations. CO2 anomalies can be linked to unexpected emissions from anthropogenic sources, or changes in biospheric processes. With the capability to detect changes in CO2 patterns at a large scale, the project will offer valuable insights into anthropogenic impacts and climate change dynamics. These insights can be used to refine climate models, create more effective mitigation measures, and support policymaking.
