NOAA high-level visit to Sodankylä Arctic Space Centre

Co-operation between NOAA and FMI was enhanced by the visit of NOAA-NESDIS Deputy Assistant Administrator Mark Paese to Sodankylä Arctic Space Centre (FMI-ARC). He was accompanied by Mary Ann Kutny, Deputy Director of International and Interagency Affairs Division of NOAA-NESDIS. FMI and NOAA made a framework agreement on scientific and operational co-operation at the turn of the year 2020 – 2021.

The 15th of September 2022 visit to Sodankylä was hosted by Jussi Kaurola, Director General of Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI). Discussions focused on the ongoing and planned co-operation concerning satellite ground segment, Earth Observations satellite data CAL/VAL and product development as well as space weather monitoring and space situational awareness.
